A tremendous combination of Latin roots and contemporary grooves -- the mixing of the Puerto Rican scene with a definite influence from West London -- resulting here in a really righteous batch of tracks! The set's the brainchild of Afronaut, and features a bit of his own work, plus contributions from a range of key contemporaries -- many of whom, like him, have made recent visits to Puerto Rico, where the scene is really going through some wonderful changes. In a way, the music's almost a broken beat equivalent to the way that Quantic's let Puerto Rican influences change his funky sound -- but there's also some deeper, more traditional
elements here too -- including tracks that are often heavy on really rootsy percussion! A wonderful set -- full of life and imagination.(dustygroove)
